Friends, family, fans and colleagues of country singer Lari White are praying for a miracle. The multi-talented star was placed in hospice care in Nashville on Friday as she continues her valiant fight against peritoneal cancer.

“Last night Lari was admitted to a wonderful Hospice facility here in Nashville, where she has all the Care she needs to make her comfortable and quiet for this part of the Journey, and where she is completely surrounded by loving family… Chuck, the children, her sister and brother, nephew and sisters-in-law, Mother and Father,” Lari’s mom wrote.

“This Mother’s Heart is broken tonight for the horrendous illness that attacked our amazing daughter so viciously and quickly, as we know yours is, too.  But tonight this Mother’s Heart is also filled with an abundance of love and comfort…and Peace that she has so much love surrounding her, and for the gentle, competent Care of Hospice.”

The outpouring of support for Lari, her husband, songwriter Chuck Cannon, and their children has flooded social media in recent hours. Many have contributed to the GoFundMe account set up for the family and others are sharing videos of some of Lari’s biggest hits from the ’90s including “That’s My Baby,” “Now I Know” and “That’s How You Know (You’re In Love).”

But, it’s Lari’s rendition of “Amazing Grace” that has us captivated. The all-familiar lyrics sung in Lari’s clear, alto voice make us feel as if we’re hearing the song for the first time.

Lari White first released the song on Amazing Grace – A Country Salute to Gospel in 1995, a project for which she won a Grammy Award.
