All the other coaches will be walking without her this year after she refused, saying she “will never do a red carpet again”.
The former star of Hannah Montana, heavily-awarded vocalist, and controversial coach of the new ‘Voice’ season opened up about why she’s refusing to walk on a red carpet at The Voice (or any other event) in a new interview with Elle.
Miley Cyrus has always been an outgoing and outspoken person, but in this upcoming edition of Elle, the singer and coach confesses why she’s taking such a different stance – which according to Gossip Cop, “stem from her problems with both fame and show business.”
So, why won’t she be strutting her stuff on the red carpet along side Blake, Adam, and Alicia? Simply put: because people are starving somewhere.
Last year, she walked down the red carpet for A Very Murray Christmas, which seems to be when she came to this realization and opinion on the red carpet.
“I had to do the premiere, and I will never do a red carpet again,” she told the magazine. “Why when people are starving, am I on a carpet that’s red? Because I’m ‘important’? Because I’m ‘famous’? That’s not how I roll….”
Continuing the interview, Miley confesses that she often feels ashamed of her success because so many other people are suffering in the world, and revealed that she “couldn’t sleep because [she] felt so guilty”.
The guilt-wracked pop superstar even went on to explain how a recent hike had her felling “like an a**hole”.
“I was covered in rashes because I was so stressed,” Miley said. “Even today, I dropped my water on my hike and felt like such an a**hole,” Adding, “There are children being sold into sex slavery; how can I go on a hike right now?”
It remains to be seen if she will be contractually obligated to walk the red carpet on The Voice, but if there’s a way out of doing that, it sounds like Miley will choose that option.
