Fans of America’s favorite power couple got an inside look into what is to come from Stefani and Shelton following a young aspiring country singer’s captivating blind audition. 23-year-old Ashley Levin sparked an intense battle between Voice coaches Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani following her dazzling rendition the Dixie Chicks‘ cover of Patty Griffin’s “Let Him Fly.”

The two talented artists historically met as coaches when they were on Season 9 of the singing competition series. However, now that the pair have developed a relationship with one another outside of work, what does this mean for the show?

“It’s super frustrating because Blake’s here,” said Stefani after the contestant revealed she is a Nashville songwriter. “But, you know what I’m not gonna do? I’m not gonna not try because there’s a lot that I have to offer…Who cares about genre?”

“I love hearing about your writing because that’s the blood of Nashville,” said Shelton. “Country music is a sacred thing, I would hate to see you throw it all away…I would hate to see you become an experiment. When I believe in someone I follow through with it way after the show.”

“You’re no different than all of the other girls he has on his team right now,” chimes in Stefani.

After taking a few moments to mull it all over, the young talented singer chooses the coach she’s been listening to for her “whole life,” Blake Shelton.
