Willie Nelson Opens Up About Death & Aging Through Song “If It Gets Easier”

The 84-year-old country crooner that has captivated America’s hearts through his timeless classics, unique voice, and reminders of many great years of country music.

In Willie Nelson‘s incredible release, a track from his LP, God’s Problem Child, he opens up your eyes to a different view on mortality and how our reaction to it changes as we age.

“It Gets Easier” is a very sweet and melodic ballad that blends so beautifully with his weathered voice and unforgettable talent of weaving a story through music. Co-written with his longtime friend and producer, Buddy Cannon, the track looks at death, saying “It gets easier as we get older; it gets easier to say ‘Not today.'”

As Nelson moves through the song, you can see him with his trusty guitar, Trigger, by his side throughout the whole video as he sings about this not-often talked about subject.

The final closing of this heartfelt ballad finds Nelson opening up about vulnerability of looking mortality head-on, saying, “…except for missing you, and that won’t go away.”
