Radio Host Bobby Bones Says His Dog Was Attacked By A Coyote, Then Shows The Coyote

Bobby Bones shared a scary story with his followers on Monday (August 3rd). He revealed that his dog, Eller, was attacked by a coyote in their yard.
The country music radio host and Dancing with the Stars champion explained that he waited a few days to share the story, just to ensure that Eller was okay. Thankfully, she is, with Bones saying, “She’s now back to pretty normal.”
Bones went on to explain how they have a wooded area next to their house. A mama coyote and her pups recently settled in, and it seems Eller encountered the adult coyote when she was outside one day.
When Bones heard a scuffle and some growling, his first thought was that Eller had been bitten by a snake. But he later realized that it wasn’t a snake, but a coyote, that Eller had been entangled with.
After seeing that Eller “couldn’t use her leg,” Bones took her to the vet. She seems to be doing better now, with Bones saying she is “good.”
Then, he surprised his fans by sharing footage of the coyote. The video shows the animal quite close to Bones’ house (and what appears to be a pool). Bones tried to shoo the coyote away and joked around by making a “beep beep” sound like Wile E. Coyote’s foe, the Road Runner, in the Looney Tunes cartoons.

Bobby Bones Shared More About The Coyote Attack On His Radio Show
Bobby Bones provided some additional context about the coyote situation on his radio show on Monday.
Bones said he didn’t understand exactly what had happened to Eller when she initially came running out of the trees, acting strange. After a few hours had passed, Eller started limping, so he texted a veterinarian friend.
Around that same time, his wife, Caitlin, saw the adult coyote in the yard. They put the pieces together and concluded that Eller was attacked by the coyote.
Bones said the coyotes “now own the yard,” and seem pretty content where they are. Wanting to give them their space and prevent any future attacks, Bones has been keeping his dogs closer to the house and isn’t letting them roam freely right now.
He hopes he can find someone who can relocate the coyotes, saying:
“I don’t want them to kill the coyotes. I want them to come and trap them and take them and release them somewhere else.”
How Can You Keep Your Dog Safe From Coyotes?
According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), one of the best things you can do to protect your dog from coyotes is to never let them outside unsupervised.
If possible, you should build a coyote-proof fence that is at least 6 feet tall and buried at least 18 inches into the ground. The AKC advises placing barbed wire or a PVC pipe at the top of the fence to further deter coyotes from clearing it.
You can also install motion-sensor lighting outside, which makes “most coyotes” flee when it kicks on.
Pet owners should also make certain their dogs can reliably come on command when called. That way, if they do encounter a coyote when they’re off-leash in the yard, they will return to you when you call for them.
