Brandon Blackstock’s death certificate was released Thursday (August 14), one week after his passing.

Brandon Blackstock, ex-husband of Kelly Clarkson, died Thursday, August 7, at the age of 48 after a 3-year battle with cancer.

On Monday, Silver Bow County Coroner Dan Hollis shared that the talent agent had died of malignant melanoma and that his manner of death was natural causes. His newly-released death certificate confirmed that information.

The document, released exclusively to PEOPLE, noted that seizures were listed at “significant conditions contributing to death but not resulting in the underlying cause.”

Other details included on the death certificate reveal that Blackstock died at 11:13 a.m. at his Butte, Montana, home. No autopsy was performed, and Blackstock was cremated.

Brandon Blackstock’s family announced his death in a statement.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news that Brandon Blackstock has passed away. Brandon bravely battled cancer for more than three years. He passed away peacefully and was surrounded by family. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers and ask everyone to respect the family’s privacy during this very difficult time.”

The news of Brandon’s passing came one day after Kelly Clarkson, his ex-wife and father of his children, River and Remy, postponed the remaining August dates of her Las Vegas residency.

At the time of his death, Brandon Blackstock was in a “loving relationship” with Brittney Marie Jones, Clarkson’s former production assistant. Blackstock was married to Kelly Clarkson from 2013 to 2022, though the couple separated in 2020. He was married to Melissa Ashworth from 2001 to 2012 and shared two children: Savannah and Seth.
