A small plane crashed in Boca Raton, Florida, on Friday (April 11). NBC 6 out of Miami reports that “officials” confirmed all three people on the plane were killed in the crash. The victims have not been identified as of press time.
NBC 6 also reports that a man in a vehicle on the ground was injured.
“One gentleman on the ground, he hit a tree because of all the debris and the fire,” said Boca Raton Fire Rescue Assistant Chief Michael LaSalle. “It was from the fireball on the ground, he drove through apparently the fireball.“
According to the FAA, the plane was a Cessna 310R that took off from the Boca Raton Airport and was headed to Tallahassee International Airport.
ABC News reported that the aircraft had only been in the air for less than 20 minutes before it crashed near Interstate 95 around 10:20 am.
What We Know So Far About The Crash
The investigation is still ongoing, and the cause of the crash has not yet been confirmed.
However, local outlet BocaNewsNow reported that the plane was turning back towards the city’s airport due to mechanical issues.

Witnesses said they saw the aircraft flying unusually low and circling in the air. Moments later, it suddenly dropped.
One witness who spoke to WPBF described the aftermath as a “fireball” outside.
Aerial footage from the scene shows plane debris scattered across a section of railroad tracks, where officials are actively working to clean up and investigate the crash site.
