Earlier this year, Carly Pearce and Riley Green had fans going absolutely wild with their collaboration, “If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay.”

Written by Devin Dawson, Seth Ennis, Jordan Minton, and Jordan Reynolds, the song is about two people fighting their attraction for each other late one night because they know it’s risky.

Pearce and Green also released a sultry music video for the song, which they starred in themselves. Once viewers saw the two of them cozying up together, the internet went into a frenzy.

But while the scenes may have looked steamy to fans, Pearce says filming them was anything but. She finally answered fans’ burning question: “What was it like shooting this video with Riley?”

On Tuesday, September 8, Pearce shared a behind-the-scenes look from the music video shoot, and she and Green couldn’t take their scenes seriously. The two have been friends for a long time, so naturally, it’s hard to keep a straight face when they’re trying to act out intense moments.

The clip shows the two singers between takes. Green suddenly puts his hand on his hip, dramatically flips his hair, and stares straight into the camera filming behind him. Pearce breaks character too, and looks into the camera with a big smile before breaking into a little dance.

“very serious song & video. very unserious people,” Pearce wrote on top of the video.

Carly Pearce Has A New Album Out Now

“If I Don’t Leave I’m Gonna Stay” appears on Pearce’s new album Honest Woman, which dropped on August 28. If you liked that track, you may want to give the other 15 songs a listen.

“This album was years in the making, and I’ve never been more proud of a body of work,” Carly said in a statement. “I went back to my roots, honored the music that raised me, and told the truth about my experiences as a woman through these songs. These songs hold pieces of my story, and I hope you find pieces of yours in them too.
