Country music sensation Carrie Underwood has released an exciting new project, launching a SiriusXM channel that’s dedicated to promote gospel music.
The channel, named “Savior Sunday Daily by Carrie’s Country,” officially went live on March 21st, giving listeners a daily dose of uplifting faith-based country and gospel tunes carefully curated by Carrie herself, according to SiriusXM.
Initially a popular segment on Carrie’s existing SiriusXM channel, “Savior Sunday Daily” has now become its own platform, showing the increasing interest in gospel music within the country music community.
Listeners can expect to hear a mix of Carrie’s own gospel songs from her Grammy-winning album My Savior, as well as classics from artists like Dolly Parton and Alan Jackson, along with emerging talents from Nashville.
Carrie’s love for gospel music comes from her childhood, where she found comfort in singing hymns in church. She describes these songs as familiar and comforting, having been a part of her life for as long as she can remember.
“We had our little church. We kind of went to a couple. My first one probably would’ve been just very tiny [with] wooden pews. It was probably the first place that I sang, as well, was in church, singing these hymns in the congregation, as well as being on stage and singing in front of people,” Carrie had said while recording My Savior. “It was always just familiar. These songs are like a warm hug, you know? Just familiar and sweet and songs I’ve been singing my whole life.”
“Hymns and gospel music shaped me as an artist because those were the first things that I sang,” she continued. “It was just a great foundation for me now as an artist … We’ll be introducing these songs to a whole new generation as well.”
In addition to the new channel, Carrie’s existing SiriusXM station, Carrie’s Country, continues to provide round-the-clock entertainment with a mix of Carrie’s music and famous Country hits.
