At Chris Stapleton’s latest show in Seattle on July 27, fans got a fun surprise: hot dogs parachuting from the sky.

As the country music star performed his popular song “Parachute,” miniature parachutes filled with tasty franks floated down to the audience. I mean, can you just imagine that? Chris Stapleton concert + free hot dogs? Talk about a memorable experience!

The official social media accounts for the All-American Road Show later shared a close-up of one of the parachutes. The caption read:

“Why yes, we deployed hot dogs on parachutes during ‘Parachute’ in Seattle.”

A fan in the crowd captured the moment of the hot dogs drifting down from the sky. Check it out in the video below!

The hot dogs were tied to the “White Horse” singer’s 2015 hit from his Traveller album, but that’s not the only reason for the hot dog drop in Seattle.

Apparently, it has deeper roots at T-Mobile Park, where it has become a quirky tradition.

T-Mobile Park, known for its retractable roof and as the home of the Seattle Mariners, has embraced this unique aerial hot dog spectacle. According to Daniel Kramer’s Mariner’s Beat newsletter, the tradition of parachuting hot dogs began last offseason when Hempler’s, a local meat snack company, wanted to add excitement to events at the stadium.

Tyler Thompson, the Mariners’ Senior Manager of Game Entertainment and Experiential Marketing, explained that the idea was to create a “spectacle-type feature” that would engage fans.

“We’re looking for large crowds and nights where we have enough staffing,” Thompson told Mariner’s Beat. “It takes more people to prepare and throw hot dogs on parachutes than you might think.”

After testing the concept before the baseball season, the “Hot Dogs from Heaven” quickly became a regular feature at the venue. The goal is to deliver this fun experience 15 to 20 times throughout the Mariners’ season, which runs until late September.

What a fun idea! If you were lucky enough to attend Chris Stapleton’s Seattle show, you might have snagged a free hot dog!
