Cody Johnson Will Compete & Headline Hondo Rodeo Fest

Cody Johnson is ready to show that he doesn’t just sing about the cowboy lifestyle, he lives it too.

The Hondo Rodeo Fest in Phoenix, Arizona, is right around the corner, with the three-night event starting on November 7.

Along with all the exciting rodeo competitions, fans can also look forward to a pretty great lineup of artists this year. Fans will get to see live shows from Cody Johnson, Jon Pardi, Treaty Oak Revival, Riley Green, Jason Aldean, and even Nickelback.

But this year, rodeo fans will get to see something that’s never happened at the festival before. Cody Johnson isn’t just headlining that Saturday; he’s also set to compete.

For COJO fans, it’s no surprise that the rodeo life is a big part of who he is. The “Dear Rodeo” singer has spent years on horseback, with roping being one of his biggest passions.

Now, he will officially get to put his roping skills to the test. In a recent interview, Hondo Rodeo Fest CEO James Trawick talked about Johnson’s participation this year.

“He’s actually going to rope at the Hondo this year,” Trawick confirmed. “Fans are going to get to see him ride and rope at the Hondo for the first time ever. Pressure is on Cody. It’s out there. It’s in the public.”

Cody Johnson Earns First CMA Nomination For Entertainer Of The Year

November is shaping up to be a big month for Cody Johnson. Not only will he be competing at the Hondo Rodeo Fest, but he’s also earned four nominations at this year’s CMA Awards.

One of the awards Johnson is up for is the night’s biggest honor, Entertainer of the Year. Surprisingly, this is the first time he’s ever been nominated in that category.

Other nominees for Entertainer of the Year are Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, and Morgan Wallen.

The other categories that Johnson has nods in include: Music Video of the Year, Musical Event of the Year, and Male Vocalist of the Year.

This year’s CMA Awards will take place on Wednesday, November 19, at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.
