Brad Paisley and Sierra Hull came together for a beautiful performance honoring the legendary Dolly Parton.
Their duet was part of the lineup for the CMA television special dedicated to Parton, which aired on Wednesday night, October 21, from Belmont University’s Fisher Center in Nashville, Tennessee.
Following the news of the singer’s passing on August 25, a live tribute celebration was announced to celebrate her life and legacy. The special brought together a long list of artists whose lives were touched by Parton, including Vince Gill, Carrie Underwood, Reba McEntire, and more.
Brad Paisley’s Close Relationship With Dolly Parton
Brad Paisley and Dolly Parton’s friendship actually goes way back.
In 2005, they teamed up to record a duet called “When I Get Where I’m Going.” The song went on to become a hit, reaching No.1 on the U.S. Hot Country Songs chart.
After Dolly’s passing, Paisley performed the song during one of his concerts in her honor.

Brad Paisley & Sierra Hull Join Voices For “When I Get Where I’m Going”
It was only fitting for Paisley to perform his and Parton’s duet during the television special. Before the show, Paisley told the CMA that he was going to “try to do our song justice.”
“Dolly is a singular force in our town and in our format of music… in any format of music,” Paisley said during rehearsals. “We don’t get to claim her entirely anymore. She’s in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, she is in the acting pantheon of icons as well…That all would be enough to do a special like this and to honor her.”
Anyone who watched Paisley and Hull’s performance surely believed they did the song justice, just as Paisley had hoped. Their performance was tender and emotional…everything that we expected out of hearing them perform the track.
Hull’s voice shone on the song, and she rose to the occasion to sing the gentle harmonies that Parton recorded in the past.
