Cody Johnson Scores Record-Breaking Ram
Texas native Cody Johnson is a country boy through and through, from his chart-topping country songs to his bull riding and cattle roping background. Recently, the musician participated in a hunt at Covered S Ranch in Snyder, Texas, which he described as the “experience of a lifetime.”
The 30,000-acre West Texas property is a fully operational cattle farm that offers “high-end hunting adventures and getaways.” Johnson writes:
“The experience I had there will go down in history, not only in the @official_sci record books, but it will go down in history as my greatest hunting accomplishment so far in my life!”
On the hunt, Johnson scored a massive ram that is set to break the Safari Club International (SCI) record for the species. The exact specifications of the animal have not yet been revealed.
Accomplishing such a feat is something the singer says he “never thought in a million years” would happen to him.
A Glimpse Into The Historic Hunt
One week later, Cody Johnson shared a behind-the-scenes look at the record-breaking hunt.
Along with guides Mark Maunder and Andrew Park, he tracked a Transcaspian Urial Ram, a wild sheep known for its striking appearance, including a large white bib and neck ruff, and massive, curling, triangular horns that can exceed 40 inches in length.
Covered S Ranch shared additional photos from the hunt and wrote:
“We have been fortunate to host some incredible guests at the ranch over the years, and this experience is no exception. COJO and a new world record!”
In a new video, the “Dirt Cheap” singer admits that the experience was something he had written off, believing it would not be in the cards for him. He adds:
“Be careful what you declare. Because I think sometimes when we declare things, God laughs.”
The full hunt was documented, and the video will be released on Cody Johnson’s YouTube channel on September 16th at 11 am CT. Get a sneak peek in the video below!
