Conway & Loretta’s Grandkids Unleash “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” Cover
on Aug 16, 2024
Loretta Lynn and Conway Twitty are two of the biggest names in country music. The two of them created one of the greatest duos that the genre has ever seen. Together they released 11 studio albums between 1971 and 1988, four of which became No. 1 country albums.
Mooney, Lynn’s husband, got his hands on the song “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man” when the songwriter, Jim Owen, who wrote the song with Becki Bluefield, dropped the demo off at Lynn’s office. Mooney knew it would be the perfect song for Lynn and Twitty to sing – turns out he was 100% right.
Lynn and Conway’s 1973 duet album, Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man, became a number one country album, and all five singles from the record went number one on Billboard as well. Other duets on this album, which was their third together, included “For Heaven’s Sake,” “Release Me,” “You Lay So Easy on My Mind,” “Our Conscience, You and Me,” “As Good as a Lonely Girl Can Be,” “Bye Bye Love,” “Living Together Alone,” “What Are We Gonna Do About Us?,” “If You Touch Me,” and “Before Your Time.”
By the time they released “Louisiana Woman, Mississippi Man,” Conway and Loretta had already won a Grammy for their duet “After The Fire Is Gone,” and four Vocal Duo of the Year awards!
Nearly 50 years later, their grandchildren Tayla Lynn and Tre Twitty stopped by the Country Rebel headquarters in Ashland City, Tennessee to perform their grandparents’ hit song.
Tre is the son of Conway’s eldest son, Michael, while Tayla is the daughter of Loretta’s son, Ernest Ray.
The two of them are not only are musically talented, but also look astonishingly like their grandparents. If you close your eyes, you can catch glimpses of Conway and Loretta in each of their voices.
