Riley Green, Mark Chesnutt, And Other Country Artists Come To Sammy Kershaw’s Defense Amid CMA Red Carpet Controversy
on

In the evening of Nov. 5, country artist Sammy Kershaw released a statement with a claim that has attracted some significant support from his fellow artists.
Saying he was “pretty sad about it,” Kershaw wrote on social media, detailing, “I just found out some disappointing news and it really hurts me. I have to share my disappointment with the CMA as they have denied my request to walk the red carpet for a few minutes at this year’s CMA Awards.”
Kershaw went on to describe the situation as seeing him “strung along” by the Country Music Association, with the artist working to adjust his tour schedule and secure accommodations to attend the 60th CMA Awards.
While the Country Music Association has yet to address Kershaw’s account of this alleged situation, as of the afternoon of Friday, Nov. 6, Kershaw powerfully made the case for why he should be welcomed to the red carpet of the award show, citing his lifetime membership in the CMA since 1992, as well as countless hit songs over the years.
“I believe there should be room to recognize the artists who have spent their lives contributing to this organization’s success,” Kershaw wrote, proceeding to claim that he’s “not the only one” who has been denied access to the red carpet.
Kershaw’s manager even exclusively told Country Rebel additional details about the situation.
This has drawn responses from many big names in country music, including Riley Green and Carly Pearce.
Even Mark Chesnutt has responded, writing at length on his feelings about the whole situation.

See What Country Artists Are Saying About Sammy Kershaw’s Claims About The Upcoming CMA Awards
Sammy Kershaw’s statement about having his request denied to appear on the red carpet of the 60th CMA Awards comes as the ceremony is less than two weeks away, slated for Nov. 18.
The claims made in Kershaw’s account of the situation has attracted a significant response from several country artists, as well as many fans.
Among those who have publicly reacted to this matter is Riley Green, who wrote, “If you haven’t earned the right to be there then nobody has… disappointing to say the least.”

Riley Green wasn’t alone in addressing this.
“This is wild!” country artist Drew Baldridge said, adding, “I’ll give you my spot!! You paved the way for all of us on that carpet.”

Joining in, Carly Pearce wrote, “Many of us wouldn’t be here without artists like you…”
Country artist Jake Owen simply commented, “I’m team Sammy.”
Kylie Morgan also chimed in, writing, “Ugh, this makes me sad for country music. Can we please bring back the legends and not influencers?”
Quite notably, Mark Chesnutt, one of Kershaw’s peers from the ’90s country music scene, wrote at length about the situation on his own Facebook page.
“The CMA doesn’t care about us old 90s guys any more,” Chesnutt wrote, adding:
“It’s a shame they don’t respect the stars that dominated the charts in the past thirty years or before that but they sure roll out the welcome mat for pop stars and Hollywood movie stars and even hip hop artists.”
Chesnutt went on to look to the rock music genre and how he feels that it has worked to cherish and celebrate its stars from all eras.
Near the conclusion of his post, Chesnutt wrote, “Thank God there’s still a lot of people that love traditional country music.”
