Darci Lynne & Beloved Puppet Petunia Cover Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”

Darci Lynne sang a special cover of Dolly Parton’s “Jolene,” with a little help from her famous puppet, Petunia.
The singer and professional ventriloquist shared a video of the performance on social media as a tribute to Dolly. Just two days earlier, the country music legend had passed away at the age of 80 following a private battle with cancer.
Darci Lynne first rose to fame at 12 years old after auditioning for America’s Got Talent in 2017. She won over the judges and audiences across the country with her incredible singing voice and impressive ventriloquism skills.
When Darci sang with her trusty puppet, Petunia, she wouldn’t move her mouth at all, and it was truly amazing to see, especially from someone so young. Her performance was so good that she received a Golden Buzzer from judge Mel B.
Darci went on to beat out the competition and won Season 12 of the show. To this day, she remains one of the youngest contestants in AGT history to win the entire thing.

Almost fourteen years later, Darci is still performing for massive crowds. She and her diverse group of puppet friends are currently traveling across the country on her Growing Pains Tour.

Darci took some time out of her busy schedule to honor Dolly’s incredible legacy by singing her iconic song, “Jolene.”
Dolly originally released the track in 1974. In the song, the narrator confronts a woman named Jolene and pleads for her not to steal the man she loves.
Most fans know that the song is actually inspired by a true story. Dolly has shared before that she wrote the song after she found out a red-headed bank teller was flirting with her husband, Carl.

Darci kept the performance simple. It was just her and Petunia standing in a kitchen as they went back and forth singing their way through “Jolene.”
“We love you Dolly,” she said at the end of the video.
The video has garnered a lot of attention. In just one day, Darci’s cover has racked up more than 6 million views on Instagram.
The comments have also been flooded with people praising her performance and calling it a beautiful tribute to the Queen of Country.
“Awesome tribute to a famous lady bless u sweet lady,” one person commented.
“She would absolutely love this! 💖🦋🙏🏻,” another wrote.
“Beautiful! Cool way to honor Dolly! 💛,” someone else said.
