Derek Hough And Hayley Erbert Say “I Do” During Wedding Ceremony Held In Northern California

Derek Hough and Hayley Erbert are now husband and wife!

Both Derek and Hayley are professional dancers known for their work on Dancing with the Stars. Derek is a former pro, and now serves as one of the show’s judges. Hayley has been a longtime member of the show’s troupe.

The couple married on Saturday (August 26) in front of 106 guests in Monterey County, California’s Redwood forest. PEOPLE shared all the details about their stunning ceremony.

Learn Every Little Detail About Derek And Hayley’s Wedding

Derek and Hayley exchanged both personal and traditional vows. They said “I do” while standing in front of a large “mother tree,” which was symbolic to them:

“We’re in a redwood forest, but we got married right in front of this mother tree that’s surrounded by all these smaller trees,” Hayley told PEOPLE. “They drop all the seeds, and it plants kind of like an army of children to protect the mother. The symbolism of it was beautiful. We’re here, planting our seeds to grow our family.”

Hayley wore a custom gown by Georgina Chapman from Marchesa, while Derek wore a suit from Tom Ford. Richard Walters recorded a new rendition of his song “Unconditional” for Hayley to play as she walked down the aisle.

The reception was held in a century-old barn, which had a “regal” but “rustic” atmosphere. Hayley told PEOPLE she was especially excited about their food, which included hors d’oeuvres with steak, salmon, and vegetarian options for dinner. Later, the couple served snack foods such as mini corn dogs, grilled cheese and tomato soup, and seasoned fries.

Their wedding cake was a huckleberry lavender flavor. They also had a dessert bar available for guests to enjoy.

Did Derek Hough And  Hayley Erbert Do A Choreographed Dance During Their Wedding Reception?

Since Derek and Hayley are both professional dancers, they knew fans would wonder about their first dance. Did they plan an elaborate, choreographed number to entertain their guests? Surprisingly, no!

The couple shared their first dance to “Fall Into Me” by Forrest Blakk. When asked why they decided to keep things more low-key, Derek said:

“It’s so beautiful, but I’ll say this. I think everybody’s expecting us to do a performance and a dance whole thing. But that’s the thing, if we perform, we go on stage, we dance, we do things. So for us, it feels more special for us to not perform. To be on the floor with each other, to listen to music, and just be in the moment.”
