Check out this video that shows a soldier returning home from an eight month deployment overseas. His dog, Chuck, couldn’t contain his excitement.

Upon seeing his dad return, Chuck jumped out of the family car, and ran to pummel his dad with jumps and kisses. Chuck continued to shower his beloved family member with affection for nearly a full minute, and you can tell that dad loves every second of the warm welcome that he gets from his dog.

While we can’t be sure exactly why some dogs get so emotional after deployment, it’s likely due to the fact that they can’t know for sure whether they’ll see their beloved, absent family member again. One thing is for sure – videos of soldiers reuniting with their canine companions will continue to bring teary-eyed joy to Americans.
