Dolly Parton has shared a life update roughly 8 months after postponing several appearances due to health issues.

In a video posted to social media on Monday afternoon, country legend Dolly Parton told fans she wanted to give them an update on some things going on in her life. The update comes less than a year after the singer postponed a series of Las Vegas shows due to unforeseen health issues. Her December Las Vegas dates were rescheduled for September 2026.

In the months that followed, Dolly canceled other appearances, including a scheduled event at her Dollywood theme park.

In her video update shared on Monday (May 4), Dolly started with a health update, saying it was a mix of “some good news and a little bit of bad news.”

“The good news is, I’m responding really well to meds and treatments, and I’m improving every day,” Dolly said. “The bad news is, it’s gonna take me a little while before I’m up to stage-performance level because some of the meds and treatments make me a little swimmy-headed.”

Dolly revisited a classic car analogy she had previously referenced, saying, “Just think of me as a classic car that once restored can be better than ever.”

While Dolly hasn’t shared specifics about her current health issues, she has mentioned ongoing problems with kidney stones. She again spoke about that in Monday’s update.

“I’ve told you before that I’ve always had problems with my kidney stones. They dig more stones out of me than the rock quarry in Rockwood, Tennessee,” she joked.

“But seriously, my immune system and digestive system got all out of whack over the past couple of three years, and they’re working really hard on rebuilding and strengthening those,” she added.

She further put fan concerns to rest by sharing that she is continuing to work, though not in a performance capacity. She occasionally visits her Dollywood theme park, continues to make videos, and is working on her museum and hotel, which are expected to open in Nashville later this year.

The announcement seemingly confirmed that Dolly’s September Las Vegas residency has been canceled, as she apologized to fans who had purchased tickets to see her in Las Vegas. She encouraged viewers to “get on to Vegas and have a big time” and promised to “see you somewhere down the line.”

Dolly Reveals How She’s Coping One Year After Her Husband’s Death

Dolly closed out her video statement by sharing how she has been doing during the past year following the death of her husband, Carl Dean. Carl died on March 3, 2025, at the age of 82.

“After going through a year of firsts, I mean, the holidays, and especially our wedding anniversary and the day of his death, March 3, you know that was hard for me,” Dolly said. “But I will always love him and always miss him. But you would be surprised at how much your love and concern meant to me during that time.”

She continued, “From the bottom of my heart, I thank you. You have been a big part of my healing.”

Dolly then added more about her health, saying:

“It’s serious business when you’re talking about internal medicine. But I have great doctors, and I’m doing really well, and they assure me that everything I have is treatable. So I’m going with that. I just want you to know that I thank you for standing by me and I will always love you.”
