“Texas Hold ‘Em” By Beyoncé Goes #1 On The Hot Country Songs Chart

Beyoncé has Dolly Parton’s support as her new song, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” holds the #1 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

To catch you up to speed, Beyoncé starred in a commercial for Verizon that aired during the Super Bowl on February 11.  She later surprised fans by dropping two new songs that night, “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.”

The former song references her home state. Beyoncé was born in Houston, Texas on September 4, 1981.

The two tracks are the co-lead singles off of Beyoncé’s future album, due for release on March 29. It’s reported this album will be country in style. “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages” have both been labeled as country songs.

Beyoncé recently became the first black woman to ever reach #1 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. “Texas Hold ‘Em” secured the #1 spot, knocking out the 20-week chart-topper “I Remember Everything” by Zach Bryan and Kacey Musgraves.

Additionally, “16 Carriages” currently ranks at the #9 spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

This won’t be Beyoncé’s first time taking things in a country direction. The superstar singer previously released the country song “Daddy Lessons” in 2016. She joined The Chicks to perform the track during the 2016 CMA Awards.

Dolly Parton Reacts To Beyoncé’s #1 Country Song

Several country stars have spoken out since Beyoncé released “Texas Hold ‘Em” and “16 Carriages.” Reigning CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson told Extra she loves that Beyoncé has crossed over into country.

“The more the merrier,” she said. “I’m like, again, it’s about that storytelling. It’s just about making people feel at home… and everybody wants to feel at home.”

Country music legend Dolly Parton is also a fan of Beyoncé’s move into country. She shared a post on social media reacting to the news that Beyoncé hit #1 with “Texas Hold ‘Em.”

I’m a big fan of Beyoncé and very excited that she’s done a country album. So congratulations on your Billboard Hot Country number one single. Can’t wait to hear the full album! Love, Dolly.”

Dolly has shared her love for Beyoncé before. In 2020, she told Big Issue she wants to hear Beyoncé’s take on “Jolene.”

“…nobody’s ever had a really big hit record on it,” she said. “I’ve always hoped somebody might do [it] someday, someone like Beyoncé.”

Time will tell if that “Jolene” cover ever comes to fruition. In the meantime, listen to Beyoncé’s new #1 country hit, “Texas Hold ‘Em,” in the video below.
