Joe Biden drops out of the 2024 presidential race
On Sunday, July 21, President Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 electoral race in an official statement shared on social media. The statement read:
“While it has been my intention to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president.”
This announcement follows mounting pressure on Biden from both Republicans and Democrats to withdraw from the race after his widely criticized performance in the June debate against Republican nominee Donald Trump. Concerns about the 81-year-old politician’s cognitive abilities have also been a significant issue throughout his term.

Donald Trump responds to Joe Biden’s announcement
Donald Trump, who is the current Republican nominee for the presidency, shared his reaction to the news on Truth Social. He asserts that his opponent, whom he refers to as “crooked Joe Biden,” was not fit to run nor serve as president.
Shortly after, the former president doubled down on his stance, calling Biden the “Worst President, by far, in the History of our Nation.”
At this time, it is unclear who will receive the Democratic nomination or how that person will be selected.
