George Jones’ Daughter, Susan Smith, Has Died

George Jones’ oldest daughter, Susan Smith, has died. She was 75.

Jones had Susan with his first wife, Dorothy Bonvillion. Their marriage ended around the time of Susan’s birth, and Jones soon left for the U.S. Marine Corps.

He also shared sons Bryan and Jeffrey with his second wife, Shirley Ann Corley. The country music legend also had a daughter, Georgette Jones, with fellow country music legend Tammy Wynette.

Jones’ official Facebook account shared a post of Susan’s obituary.

“Susan Marie Smith, 75, of Spring Hill, Tennessee, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 1, 2026,” the post read.

Susan was born in Houston, Texas, on October 29, 1951.

According to her obituary, she was “a devoted homemaker who cherished her family above all else. She found joy in the simple things in life, especially spending time with those she loved. She also enjoyed reading and music, passions that brought her comfort and happiness throughout her life.”

Susan is survived by her husband, Harmon Smith; her children, Jennifer Stultz (Michael) and Michael Smith (Staci); her grandchildren, Laura Stultz, Jason Stultz, and Charlotte Smith; her stepmother, Nancy Jones; her stepsisters, Adina Estes and Sherry Hohimer; sister-in-law, Anna Massey; and brother-in-law, Ray Smith.
