The legendary George Jones will be honored with a special birthday celebration at one of Nashville’s most beloved honky tonks.
Country music fans will gather on Sunday, September 13th, at The Nashville Palace to celebrate what would have been the 95th birthday of George Jones. Jamey Johnson and Ernest have been confirmed as performers so far, with more exciting acts expected to be announced.
Nancy Jones, widow of the late country star, expressed her excitement for the event and shared:
“George Jones remains one of the most beloved country music singers of all time and I could not let this birthday milestone go by and not celebrate.”
The Nashville Palace has country music roots stretching back more than four decades. Stars including Waylon Jennings, Alan Jackson, and Lorrie Morgan have graced the stage, and the honky tonk continues to keep the spirit of traditional country music and dancing alive.
Additionally, classic country music fans may know The Nashville Palace as the place where Randy Travis was discovered. The “Forever and Ever, Amen” singer was a dishwasher and part-time performer at the bar in the early 1980s.
Recently, the venue renamed their main room in his honor, and George Jones’ birthday celebration will now take place in the “Randy Travis Room.” While Jones’ birthday is September 12th, the celebration was intentionally planned for the following day, a Sunday, to allow for those in the touring industry to attend.
George Jones’ Birthday Celebration To Support Two Charitable Organizations
More than just a night of live music, George Jones’ birthday celebration will give back to two organizations that support country music.
First, Concerts 4 a Cause, which helped raise money for two police officers in Huntsville, Alabama, who were ambushed and shot just before a large George Jones tribute show in March 2023. Josh Bleidt, founder of Concerts 4 A Cause, shared:
“When this opportunity came along, it fell right in line with one of our main objectives—supporting music education. We’re honored to work alongside Nancy again, celebrate George’s incredible legacy and help invest in the next generation of songwriters.”

Additionally, proceeds from the show will go to support the George Jones Memorial Scholarship at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). Established in 2013, the scholarship supports hard-working, full-time Recording Industry Management (RIM) majors with financial need. Nancy Jones added:
“I want to make sure George’s legacy continues through the next generation, and the best way to do that is to help the college that is teaching students about George’s music.”
