The first-ever People’s Choice Country Awards took place in Nashville Thursday night (Sept. 28) and delivered on their promise to deliver “chart-topping musical performances, genre-bending collaborations, legendary tributes and surprise moments.”
HARDY received six nominations for the inaugural event, including: The Male Artist of 2023, The Song of 2023 (“wait in the truck” feat. Lainey Wilson), The Album of 2023 (“the mockingbird & THE CROW), The Music Video of 2023 (“wait in the truck” feat. Lainey Wilson, and two nominations for “The Collaboration Song of 2023” (“Red” with Morgan Wallen and “wait in the truck” feat. Lainey Wilson).
HARDY has seen incredible success in recent years. He first gained attention as one of Music City’s best songwriters, having songs recorded by Morgan Wallen, Florida Georgia Line, Blake Shelton, Chris Lane, Thomas Rhett and more. In 2018, HARDY landed his own solo record deal with Big Loud Records.
A short time later he released his debut EP and joined Florida Georgia Line on tour, and quickly gained a following. In early 2023, the “wait in the truck” singer released a full-length album titled “The Mockingbird & The Crow.”
The album consists of half country and half rock music. The unique setup of the project features traditional country songs titled in lowercase as the first half of the track list. The second half is made up of rock songs, titled in all caps. The title track, “the mockingbird & THE CROW,” acts as a bridge between the two genres.
HARDY was named the Academy of Country Music’s Songwriter of the Year for 2022, marking his first major award win. Any wins he receives from the fan-voted People’s Choice Country Awards will be icing on the cake of his burgeoning career.
