Aimee Kootnikoff from West Kootenay, a region in southeastern British Columbia, Canada has a horse and a goat that have a special relationship that they both benefit from.

Arret the goat has built up a reputation for climbing onto Bouge the horse’s back and going for a ride. The reason for doing is–so that he can reach the leaves in the taller trees that most goats on the property can’t reach.

In return for helping the goat out, Bouge gets a four-hoof back massage from the goat walking up and down on the horse’s back. Aimee said she was surprised at first to look out onto her West Kootenay farm and see the goat on top of the horse riding across the field.

The West Kootenay farm is only 16 miles west of Nelson, B.C., and Aimee first noticed them doing it about two months ago.

“Of course I didn’t have my cellphone with me, so I took a mental image,” Aimee said, thinking it would be a one-time thing.

However, a few weeks later when it was feeding time, Arret was spotted climbing onto a bale of hay and then jumping onto Bouge’s back, again, and again.

Bouge didn’t seem to mind and would actually position his body in a way so that Arret could jump onto his back easier. Since that day, Aimee says that Arret spends at least “a couple hours a day” riding on top of Bouge.

The pair are so enjoyable to watch, Aimee started an Instagram page where she shows many photos and videos of the farm animals interacting together on the property.
