Instant Millionaire: 18-Year-Old Hits $48M Jackpot On First Lottery Ticket

Juliette Lamour, an 18-year-old resident of Sault Ste. Marie in Ontario, has become Canada’s youngest millionaire after winning a massive $48 million in the lottery last month.

Officials said this was her first-ever purchase of a lottery ticket and she attributes her win to beginner’s luck.

Lamour received her lottery check on Friday and shared with the folks that her grandfather encouraged her to buy the ticket for fun.

“I’m now the youngest in the country ever to win such a big prize. I’m still a university student so having this money is a big blessing to me and my family. I can’t handle it so my Mom and her Manager will be in Charge but I’ll definitely be aware of everything they will be doing with $ 48 million,” she wrote on Facebook.

The young millionaire learned about her win while she was working at her job and was told by her boss to go on home, however, her mother told her to finish her work shift.

Lamour said she has big plans for her newfound wealth and intends to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. She has aspirations of going to medical school and helping people in need.

Juliette said that she will be donating 20% of the $48 million to people in need.

Photos on her Facebook show that she has already helped a couple of families pay off their homes and also helped other families pay off school, car debt, and other bills.
