John Travolta’s Wife, Kelly Preston, Dies Of Cancer At 57

Actress Kelly Preston has died at age 57. Preston, who was married to Grease star John Travolta for 29 years, lost her battle with cancer Sunday morning (July 12).

Travolta shared the heartbreaking news of his wife’s private cancer battle to Instagram, saying:

“It is with a very heavy heart that I inform you that my beautiful wife Kelly has lost her two-year battle with breast cancer,” John wrote. “She fought a courageous fight with the love and support of so many.”

Travolta added thanks to the medical professionals who cared for his wife as well as the friends and loved ones who have supported her. He also said that he would be taking some time to be with his children during this difficult season.

“I will be taking some time to be there for my children who have lost their mother, so forgive me in advance if you don’t hear from us for a while.  But please know that I will feel your outpouring of love in the weeks and months ahead as we heal.”

The couple’s daughter, Ella, also posted a tribute to her mom, saying:

“I have never met anyone as courageous, strong, beautiful and loving as you. Anyone who is lucky enough to have known you or to have ever been in your presence will agree that you have a glow and a light that never ceases to shine and that makes anyone around you feel instantly happy,” the 20-year-old wrote. “Thank you for being there for me no matter what. Thank you for your love. Thank you for your help and thank you for making this world a better place. You have made life so beautiful and I know you will continue to do so always. I love you so much mama.”

John Travolta and Kelly Preston first met while filming the 1989 movie The Experts. According to Travolta, it was love at first sight, even thought they were both in other relationships. The two would eventually marry in 1991 and have three children together. Their son Jett was born in 1992, and tragically passed away while the family was on vacation in the Bahamas in 2009. Daughter Ella Bleu was born in 2000, and son Benjamin was born in 2010.

Kelly Preston was an accomplished actress having appeared in more than 60 films over her career, including, Twins, Jerry McGuire, For the Love of the Game, and Nothing to Lose. In 2004, Preston appeared a Maroon 5 music video in which she starred alongside band frontman and former Voice coach Adam Levine. One of her last acting roles was in the 2008 Lifetime movie The Tenth Circle.
