With a lineup of performers announced weeks prior, including rising stars and beloved favorites from the country music scene, anticipation had been building for an extraordinary night.
Urban’s 20th appearance at the CMT Awards solidified his status as a standout figure in the country music community. Fans witnessed this remarkable achievement firsthand.
Although Urban has appeared to stay busy, it’s been four years since his last album release.
However, the singer is now gearing up for a comeback! With the release of his new single, “Straight Line,” Urban offered fans a glimpse into his upcoming EP, scheduled for release this year.
“Straight Line” was written by Urban along with Chase McGill, Jerry Flowers, and Greg Wells.
“‘Straight Line’ is the perfect first track off my album because it’s a song born of wanting to break out of routine and feeling like somewhere along the line, life lost some color and excitement. This song is about getting it back again…If you’ve seen us in concert, I hope this track gives you that same liberated feeling,” Urban shared of the new song.
Last year, instead of taking the stage at the awards show, Urban delivered his unique performance in front of the Texas State Capitol to a massive audience.
He wowed the crowd with a wicked guitar solo during his song “Brown Eyes Baby.”
CMT even shared a fun video of Urban rehearsing for the 2023 CMT Awards, providing fans with a behind-the-scenes glimpse of his preparation for the event.
