The Kelly Clarkson Show returned to television on Monday, September 29, for its Season 7 premiere.

Clarkson has kept a low profile in the weeks since Blackstock’s death. She broke her social media silence in early September to celebrate the 23rd anniversary of her American Idol win.
During her opening monologue on Monday, Kelly Clarkson didn’t specifically address the events of recent months.
It was business as usual for Kelly Clarkson on her season premiere. The multi-talented artist kept with the show’s usual format, keeping things light and cheerful, with no mention of the trials she’s faced recently.
Following her opening monologue, Clarkson performed “Blinding Lights” by The Weeknd for her iconic Kellyoke segment.
Kelly explained that her song choice was a reflection of the tone she wants to set with her show.
“Light has been a constant theme for us on this show from the beginning. We’ve seen a lot in the last six years, and sometimes the world can be very heavy,” Kelly told the audience. “But I’ve always said my favorite part of doing this job, and I stand by it, is finding the light and shining it on people who are really trying to make a difference and are trying to make the world a better place.”
She was then joined by A Big Bold Beautiful Journey stars, Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell, and welcomed bus drivers who drove into the Texas floodwaters to rescue those affected by the July 2025 floods.
