The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon

Kelsea Ballerini left the stage briefly in the middle of her concert after being hit in the face with a bracelet.

The incident occurred while 28-year-old Ballerini was performing her song “If You Go Down” at Boise, Idaho’s Outlaw Field at the Idaho Botanical Garden Wednesday (June 28).

A concert-goer captured the incident on camera and shared it to social media. The video shows an object from someone in the crowd fly through the air hit Kelsea in the face. The singer turned her back to the crowd with her hand on her face. Her violinist approached Kelsea to check on her, the two appearing to have a brief conversation before the singer abruptly exited the stage.

Upon returning to the stage after an undetermined amount of time, Ballerini spoke to the crowd about what had happened.

“All I care about is keeping everyone safe. If you ever don’t feel safe, please let someone around you know. If anyone’s pushing too much or you just have that gut feeling, just always flag it,” Kelsea said. “Don’t throw things, you know?”

Some fans in attendance reported that the object that hit Kelsea was a bracelet.

Kelsea Ballerini’s onstage injury is the latest in a string of them as fans have started throwing items to their favorite artists in hopes of an autograph, photo or just to pass along a gift.

In mid-April, country singer Kane Brown was hit in the groin by a cowboy boot thrown by a fan. Brown was performing at Intrust Bank Arena in Wichita, Kansas, when the flying boot dropped him to his knees while he sang “One Thing Right.”

Despite being in pain, Kane continued to sing, finishing the song while laying on his back on stage. After finishing the song, Brown signed the boot and threw it back into the crowd. But, not before telling the audience, “Gol-ly! Hit me with the heel! I felt that!”

More recently, pop star and Florida Georgia Line collaborator Bebe Rexha was hit in the face with a cell phone while performing. The injury caused the “Meant to Be” singer to be taken to a local emergency room where she received stitches.

But, unlike Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini’s incidents, Bebe Rexha was injured intentionally. A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with two counts of assault in the third degree, one count of harassment in the second degree, one count of aggravated harassment in the second degree and a count of attempted assault in the third degree, per Rolling Stone.

“I was trying to see if I could hit her with the phone at the end of the show because it would be funny,” the suspect told the Manhattan District Attorney’s office.

Kelsea Ballerini’s incident appeared to be an accident and thankfully she wasn’t seriously injured. See footage of Kelsea being hit by the bracelet in the videos below.
