Kevin Costner’s Son To Make Film Debut In “Horizon: An American Saga”

Kevin Costner’s son, Hayes, stars alongside his famous dad in the first trailer for “Horizon: An American Saga.”

It seems Hayes is following his father’s lead by entering the acting world. Costner unveiled the official trailer for the first installment of the multipart saga on Monday, February 26th.

In the teaser, Hayes’s character defies his mother (portrayed by Sienna Miller) by refusing to seek shelter in the basement with her after invaders attack their home, reflecting the determined spirit of his character.

“It’s all right — I’m gonna be with Dad,” he tells Miller’s terrified character, before closing the door on their hiding spot.

“Horizon: An American Saga explores the lure of the Old West and how it was won – and lost – through the blood, sweat and tears of many.

Spanning the four years of the Civil War, from 1861 to 1865, Costner’s ambitious cinematic adventure will take audiences on an emotional journey across a country at war with itself, experienced through the lens of families, friends and foes all attempting to discover what it truly means to be the United States of America.”

Costner first came up with the idea behind the project 30 years ago.

Speaking with Variety and various journalists, shared his reasons for holding onto it for such a long time.

“It’s hard to fall out of love. I don’t do that,” he said. “Things that have a classic feel they don’t fall out of touch either. I think they exist in any decade. That’s the opportunity we have in cinema is to make something that lasts past its opening weekend. I’ve never banked on opening weekends; I banked on people wanting to revisit something.”

The 69-year-old Yellowstone actor shared insights with People in November 2022 about his son’s acting debut.

Apparently, the accomplished star intentionally cast his son to bond with him more.

“I kind of did it on purpose, so he could be hanging out with me,” he told People at the time. “And the same thing for Cayden, same thing for Grace. I’m like any other parent, I’m trying to figure out, like, ‘This is really neat. You should come be with me.'”

Additionally, Horizon will star Sam Worthington, Luke Wilson, along with Costner’s Yellowstone colleagues Danny Huston and Will Patton.

The project will release in four parts, with the first segment premiering on June 28th, and the second part expected to debut in August 2024.

Certainly, we’re looking forward to seeing how things unfold for Costner’s son, Hayes, who’s just 15, and what future endeavors might lie ahead for him. Possibly more joint projects with his dad?
