In a new interview, Kid Rock called out mainstream media for their role in fueling the division over Charlie Kirk’s death.

An outspoken Donald Trump supporter, Kid Rock appeared on Jesse Watters Primetime on FoxNews to chime in on the role the media is playing as political sides spar over the potential motive behind Kirk’s killing. The rocker called the mainstream media “fricking public enemy number one right now.”

Kid Rock accused media of ignoring positive, bi-partisan news and focusing on divisive topics. The rocker addressed the fact that he played at both Barack Obama’s and Donald Trump’s presidential inaugurations despite not having voted for Obama. He accepted Obama’s invitation as a gesture of goodwill and respect for the office of the President.

The musician also coordinated a White House meeting between Donald Trump and “old school liberal” Bill Maher, and received little to no coverage for either event, something he implied was a deliberate move by the press.

“It’s absolutely fricking ridiculous .. and they said Charlie Kirk is inside of this and inside of that. Other people start to echo this,” Kid Rock said. “People write dumb articles … and it starts to build and build and build, so you get these nuthouse kids who are doing nothing but playing video games and watching these occult movies that are all over our streaming services, and they’re the ones who don’t want to talk and get along with anyone.”

Watters agreed with the sentiment, saying that the media encourages such behavior and then expects kids to “do something good.” But the result is quite the opposite.

“You’re incentivizing these kids to take shots so they can be heroes. Then every time after it happens, they say, ‘We all have to come together.’ Then they move on to calling us facist again,” Watters said.

Kid Rock agreed, but argued that “not everyone on the left is sick. But there are enough people in the media and enough of these crazy liberals to create this big echo chamber.”

He added, “I’m not saying there aren’t crazy right-wingers that do some of this stuff. There’s a little bit of guilty on both sides. But these people, they’re supposed to be this inclusive this, that, or the other, and they’re the ones who don’t want to talk and get along with anyone.”

When asked if he had anything to say to those who are celebrating Charlie Kirk’s murder, Kid Rock replied, “Yeah…you keep it up, you’re gonna run into the wrong people – some people I know. They’re not gonna play that mess, and it’s not gonna be pretty.”

Kid Rock was among the Nashville musicians who paid tribute to Charlie Kirk after his death.

Charlie Kirk was killed during a tour stop at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah, on Wednesday, September 10. Kirk was debating with students during his famous “Prove Me Wrong” segment when he was killed by a gunman.

As news of Kirk’s death spread, tributes poured in, including many from members of the country music community. Among those who honored the late activist were Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Cody Johnson, Jamey Johnson, Kid Rock, Lee Greenwood, Gary LeVox, and Parker McCollum.
