How Dolly Parton Reacted To Meeting Fellow Country Star’s Daughter Named After Her

Little Big Town’s Kimberly Schlapman will always treasure the memories of her daughter meeting Dolly Parton.
Since Parton’s passing on August 25, hundreds of thousands of tributes have poured in as people remember the impact she had on the world. Along with those tributes, many have also shared their own stories of meeting her.
Little Big Town recently appeared on TODAY, where Schlapman shared the precious story of getting to introduce her daughter to Parton. The moment was even more meaningful because she named her daughter after the country legend.
She and her husband, Stephen, adopted a baby girl in 2017 and named her Dolly Grace.
When Parton learned that, she knew she had to meet her. She invited the band onto her tour bus so she could be introduced to baby Dolly.
“That’s the Dolly and my little Dolly,” Schlapman said as she showed the photo. “She invited us up on her bus to meet the other Dolly. She always had the sweetest things to say about my Dolly. She’d always say, ‘How’s my Dolly? How’s my Dolly?’”
Over time, Schlapman’s daughter even came up with a nickname for her famous namesake.
Karen Fairchild chimed in and revealed that Dolly would call Parton “My Parton.”
“She’d say, ‘My Parton,’” Fairchild said. “‘That’s my Parton.’”
Schlapman clarified that the reason was that her daughter associated the name “Dolly” with the word “my.”
Little Big Town Says They Will Be At Dollyfest
Earlier this week, Parton’s estate announced that Dollyfest will be happening in 2027. It will be a two-day festival that honors her life, career, and legacy.
Right now, there isn’t much information available about the celebration, but we do know it will take place over two consecutive weekends in Nashville and London.
Ticket information hasn’t been released yet, but we already know a few people who will be there. Little Big Town says they wouldn’t miss it.
“We heard. We’re inviting ourselves,” Fairchild said. “I literally texted her agents yesterday. Dollyfest, we’re there.”
