Kurt Busch’s Heartbreaking Realization At Kyle’s NASCAR Tribute

NASCAR driver Kurt Busch teared up detailing a heartbreaking realization he had during his brother Kyle Busch’s tribute after his passing.
Kyle Busch Passed Away On May 21
The morning on May 21st, Kyle Busch’s family released a statement on social media, revealing that the champion NASCAR driver had been hospitalized after experiencing a “severe illness” and would not compete in the weekend’s upcoming events.
However, just seven hours later, NASCAR announced he had passed away, shocking fans, who didn’t realize how dire Busch’s illness was.
“We are saddened and heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Kyle Busch, a two-time Cup champion and one of our sport’s greatest and fiercest drivers. He was 41 years old,” their statement read. “We extend our deepest condolences to the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing and the entire motorsports community.”
A few days later, a statement released by Busch’s family revealed that he passed away due to complications related to “severe pneumonia [that] progressed into sepsis.”
“The medical evaluation provided to the Busch Family concluded that severe pneumonia progressed into sepsis, resulting in rapid and overwhelming associated complications,” FOX Sports’ Bob Pockrass reported.
Kyle Was Honored That Weekend At The Coca-Cola 600
Days after Kyle’s death, the NASCAR community paid tribute to his life and career prior to and during the Coca-Cola 600 on May 24.
The CEO of NASCAR, Steve O’Donnell, led a tribute to Busch and his family, who were all in attendance including his wife Samantha, his children Brexton and Lennix, his brother Kurt, and their parents.
“Every racetrack was Kyle Busch’s home,” O’Donnell said.
The tribute included a moment of silence, as well as a rendition of “Amazing Grace” played on the bagpipes.
Before the drivers started their engines, Kurt went to the grass field in the middle of the racetrack and place eight white roses on the No. 8 that was painted on the grass, honoring his brother’s iconic No. 8 car that he drove for so many years.

Three Months Later, Kurt Busch Opens Up About His Brothers Death
Kurt Busch is one of the subjects of a three-part docuseries on USA titled NASCAR Americana. Richard Petty, Jeff Gordon, Peyton Manning, and Darius Rucker will also be featured.
The docuseries premiered on August 9th, with parts two and three airing on August 15 and August 23, respectively.
E! News has a preview of Episode 2, which shows Kurt opening up about the magnitude of his brother’s passing.
“As fatherhood came around for him, Kyle wanted to keep racing and stay active. That way, he could race against Brexton. The way that he races, it’s really a lot of what my dad taught Kyle and I,” the retired NASCAR driver said.
He then emotionally spoke about watching his nephew Brexton stand with Samatha and at Coca-Cola 600 tribute.
“To have that moment of symbolization for Kyle and just see Brexton standing there. There’s a moment of, ‘Wow. He’s gone and we’re not going to get him back’,” he said as his voice broke in emotion.
Our hearts go out to Kurt, and the entire Busch family, who will be grieving Kyle’s loss forever.
