Additional details surrounding the death of NASCAR champion Kyle Busch are beginning to emerge.

Kyle Busch died on May 21st at the age of 41. NASCAR confirmed the heartbreaking news in a statement, remembering Busch as one of the sport’s “greatest and fiercest drivers.”

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion had been scheduled to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway on Sunday, May 24. However, his family announced on May 21 that he had been hospitalized with what they described as a “severe illness,” and would not be participating in the race.

The statement did not share additional details of Busch’s illness, nor has an official cause of death been released.

911 Audio Released From Kyle Busch Emergency

TMZ has obtained the audio from the 911 call regarding Kyle Busch’s emergency medical situation, which was placed around 5:30 PM on Wednesday, May 20th. The individual who placed the call requested that an ambulance be sent to a training facility at the General Motors Technical Center in Concord, North Carolina.

The caller describes the condition of the victim, presumed to be Busch, in that moment:

“I’ve got an individual that’s, uh, shortness of breath, very hot, thinks he’s going to pass out, and he’s producing a little bit of blood, coughing up some blood.”

Busch was confirmed to be conscious at the time, as the caller repeatedly told dispatch, “He is awake. He’s awake. He’s on the bathroom floor right now.

The caller then requested that the sirens be shut off as the ambulances approached. He explained the best route for first responders to take upon arrival at the facility, adding that he (the caller) would flag them down at a side entrance.
