Lainey Wilson has fans hooked on every word of her summertime single “Watermelon Moonshine.” It’s about the joys of young love, and how her “first time” will always remind her of watermelon moonshine.
Many have likened “Watermelon Moonshine” To Deana Carter‘s iconic song “Strawberry Wine.” Wilson and Carter briefly sang “Strawberry Wine” together at the CMA Awards in 2021.

Wilson later released a music video to accompany “Watermelon Moonshine.” The video shows a young couple enjoying passionate moments together in the heat of the summer.
It also features clips of Wilson performing in a pasture. She said filming out there, “brought [her] back to those [younger] days and made [her] feel right at home.”
Wilson performed “Watermelon Moonshine” during her set at the 2023 CMA Fest. Portions of the festival were filmed for a televised special that aired on ABC on July 19, 2023.
The special included Wilson’s intoxicating live performance of “Watermelon Moonshine.”
