Lainey Wilson’s “Phone, Keys, Wallet” Features Unexpected Collaboration With A Guitar Icon

Where would any of us be without Jesus, George Jones, and our good ol’ Mom? And Lord knows we’re not getting anywhere without our phone, keys, and wallet…
That’s what Lainey Wilson is singing of in her new song about her foundation in life.
Titled “Phone, Keys, Wallet,” the song goes on to end its “little list of go-tos” that keep Lainey grounded with a melodic “and you,” which is undoubtedly a sweet nod to her newly-minted husband, Devlin “Duck” Hodges.
“I feel like a tornado with boots on half the time, and this song is really about finding somebody who’s okay with that chaos and chooses to love you through it anyway,” said Lainey Wilson, as quoted by her record label, BBR Music Group.
While not mentioned, the song is also a testament to the value of friends, both new and old, as “Phone, Keys, Wallet” features the guitar stylings of John Mayer.

Not only does “Phone, Keys, Wallet” include guitar playing by John Mayer, but the song was recorded at Mayer’s studio in Los Angeles, Chaplin Studios, a press release noted.
This unexpected collaboration comes just a couple months after Lainey was a guest on John’s show on SiriusXM, How’s Life with John Mayer.
There, they revealed their collaboration, with Lainey stating that she had visited Mayer at his studio and played what she had so far of the song on her phone.
Singing the song’s hook, of “Now, Jesus, Jones, momma, my phone, keys, wallet, and you,” Lainey then recalled that when Mayer first heard it, he asked, “‘Now, who’s Jesus Jones?'”
This got a big laugh out of both of them, and Lainey recalled that her response was, “I said, ‘Well, technically, we don’t know Jesus’ last name. Je could be Jones.'”
From there, Mayer remembered his immediate love for the tune of the song, saying it was stuck in his head for two weeks.

The release of this song with John Mayer comes in a year that has seen her do a few collaborations already, including “The Jesus I Know Now,” featuring Christian artist Brandon Lake; and “Younger You,” with Miley Cyrus.
Lainey also released her own solo track, “Can’t Sit Still.”
