Lainey Wilson prayed over a young fan and her family backstage after finding out that the mother has stage 4 cancer.

As she traveled the world on her Whirlwind Tour, Lainey Wilson has created a heartwarming tradition of selecting one attendee at each show to be the “Cowgirl of the Night.” The lucky fan gets invited on stage and crowned with a special cowgirl hat during “Atta Girl,” an empowering song about chasing happiness even when life gets hard.

During a recent show, Lainey unknowingly selected a young girl whose family was in the middle of a health crisis. The “Can’t Sit Still” singer tells the story in her Netflix Documentary, Keepin’ Country Cool, which debuted in April. The film follows the country superstar as she navigates a thriving music career, personal struggles, and more.

Lainey Wilson Prays Over Fan & Terminally Ill Mother

As Lainey Wilson wound down after the massive headlining show, she was informed by her photographer, Erick, that the fan she had selected to be “Cowgirl of the Night” was attending the concert with her mother, who had just been diagnosed with terminal cancer. He called it “the most moving moment” and explained:

“This mom just found out that she has stage four cancer, and she doesn’t have much longer to live, and so they’re at this concert together.”

The Louisiana native fought through emotion and requested that the young girl and her family be brought backstage. As she processed the situation, she said:

“Bless her little heart. She’s not gonna have her mama there to tell her that she’s beautiful and smart and talented and all those things.”

Lainey composed herself as the family arrived to meet her. She wrapped her arms around them and prayed:

“Lord Jesus, I am coming to you right now, Father, and I just pray for peace. Peace that only comes from you, God. I pray for healing. I pray that you just wrap this family in your loving arms.”
