1 Year Ago, Lauren Alaina Promised Kane Brown She’d Get A Matching Tattoo – Here’s Why She Still Hasn’t
on Jul 29, 2026

Lauren Alaina and Kane Brown go way back. The country singers attended the same middle school in northwest Georgia, and they had choir class together.
Brown was a bit shy about singing and would quietly hum to himself. It was Alaina who encouraged him to sing louder, which gave him the confidence he needed.
Now, both Alaina and Brown are successful recording artists. They brought things full circle in 2017 with their first collaboration, “What Ifs.”
“What Ifs” went on to become one of the most-played duets in country music history. The steamy song reached #1 on both of Billboard‘s country charts and was certified Diamond by the RIAA.
Diamond certification is extremely rare. In order to be certified Diamond, a song must sell the equivalent of 10 million units.
This honor has only been bestowed on a small number of country songs, including Thomas Rhett‘s “Die a Happy Man,” Chris Stapleton‘s version of “Tennessee Whiskey,” and another Kane Brown song, “Heaven.”
When “Heaven” was certified Diamond, Brown got a diamond tattoo to celebrate. So when “What Ifs” went Diamond in February 2025, he got two tally marks above the original diamond tattoo to represent his two Diamond-certified singles.
Brown called Lauren Alaina to surprise her with the news. She promised to get a matching diamond tattoo and said Brown should be with her when she did.
However, over one year later, Alaina still hasn’t gotten that tattoo. She explained the reason why during a recent conversation with Taste of Country, and it makes perfect sense why she held off.
“I was pregnant so I hadn’t…” she said, adding, “you know what? I need to…I told him I would.”
Alaina welcomed her first child, a daughter named Beni Doll, with her husband, Cam Arnold, on June 11, 2025.
Lauren Alaina And Kane Brown Have A New Duet Out Now
Lauren Alaina feels an extra push to get that tattoo now that she and Kane Brown have a new song together. Their latest duet, “Never Been In Love,” debuted on July 17th.
The upbeat love song will be featured on Alaina’s upcoming album, Stages, which is scheduled for release on August 28th. But you can go ahead and listen to “Never Been In Love” in the official audio video below.
Who knows, maybe Alaina and Brown will have to get another diamond tattoo for this song!
