Country Artists Address The Trump Rally Shooting
Many country music stars have addressed the Trump rally shooting in statements on social media. “‘Til You Can’t” singer Cody Johnson delivered one of the most passionate responses, calling the incident “absolutely disgusting” during his concert at the Windy City Smokeout in Chicago.
“The fact that any American citizen would think that what they did today would solve a problem in this country is absolutely disgusting,” Johnson said. “You want to solve a problem in this country, on Election Day go in there and vote for who you want … Because before most of you were born, an American soldier died for you to have the right to disagree with someone else.”

Greenwood said:
“Hello, RNC! Is there any doubt who’s going to be the next President of the United States? Prayer works! This nation [is] based on faith, prayer works. Because He was sure as Donald Trump turned his head just slightly, that the bullet missed him just enough to save his life to be the next President of the United States. We have believed for so long that God will make some changes in this country. And he’s about to make a change in the current administration and send them home.”
Greenwood continued:
“Tonight we make the decision on what’s right for America. More prosperity, less gas prices, less food prices, help for our veterans. And God bless our military wherever they are in this United States…”
Then, Trump entered the venue, with a bandage over his injured ear. The crowd cheered as Trump waved and smiled, all while Greenwood passionately sang “God Bless the U.S.A.” Trump appeared emotional as he joined his family and his newly announced pick for Vice President, J.D. Vance.
After singing the first verse of his song, Greenwood said:
“We are here tonight for one purpose. To elect Donald J. Trump as president of the United States. He is here tonight to show his courage, his defiance against somebody who tried to kill him. You will not take this man down. He has the courage, the strength, and he will be the next president of the United States.“
Trump and the audience gave Greenwood a warm round of applause at the end of “God Bless the U.S.A.,” and Trump even offered a salute. You can watch the full video of Greenwood’s performance and Trump’s introduction below.
