Little Big Town took center stage as hosts and performers at the People’s Choice Country Awards 2023 Thursday night.

In a historic night for country music, the Grand Ole Opry House in Nashville hosted the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards on September 28, 2023. The multitalented quartet, Little Big Town, had double duty as they served as both hosts and performers.

With members Karen Fairchild, Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, and Jimi Westbrook having been inducted into the Opry in 2014, this event held a special significance. The Grand Ole Opry House has seen numerous legendary award shows, including the CMA Awards from 1974 to 2004, with some of the greatest country artists of all time performing on the iconic stage.

The members of Little Big Town are no stranger to hosting awards shows, having previously done it at the CMT Music Awards in 2018 and 2019. However, this time, they did so from the home of country music, the Grand Ole Opry House.

In a statement prior to the event, Little Big Town expressed their excitement, “We are honored to host the inaugural People’s Choice Country Awards, especially on one of our most beloved stages in the entire world. We look forward to welcoming so many of our talented peers to take the Opry stage for this magical night of music.”

Little Big Town’s Ever-Growing Career

Little Big Town’s remarkable career is full of awards and accolades, including three Grammy Awards for Best Country Duo/Group Performance. They also dominated the Vocal Group of the Year category at the CMA Awards six years in a row from 2012 to 2017 and got the same honor four times at the ACM Awards.

Little Big Town has three Billboard Hot Country Songs No. 1 hits – “Pontoon,” “Girl Crush,” and “Better Man,” each of which earned them a Grammy Award. Additionally, they’ve claimed the top spot on the Top Country Albums chart with four albums: The Reason Why, Tornado, The Breaker, and Nightfall.

Cassandra Tryon, Senior Vice President of Entertainment Live Events at NBCUniversal Television and Streaming, spoke about having Little Big Town as hosts before the event, saying, “Little Big Town is a force in country music and a beloved staple on Music Row. As Opry members, they’ve delighted fans for years on the world-famous stage, and we’re honored to have them host, perform, and bring this inaugural ceremony to life.”
