The family of Bill Cody, who has spent over 30 years as the host and announcer for the Grand Ole Opry, is asking for prayers.

Hannah Davis, Bill’s daughter, revealed in a Facebook post that her father was admitted to the hospital due to heart failure and kidney failure three weeks ago.

They performed tests, prescribed medicine, tried dialysis, and determined that “his only option for survival would be a double transplant, heart and kidney.”

She began the post by writing, “Friends. Prayer warriors. I believe in the power of prayer and my daddy needs prayers.”

Davis updated his Opry family and fans that he passed all the tests to qualify him to be placed on the transplant list.

Unfortunately, Bill had a setback on Saturday (May 30).

“Last night, his heart strength and ability to pump blood took a downward spiral and we got a call from his doctor early this morning that they were having to intubate him to put him on ECMO (a machine that does the hearts job for him),” she wrote.

She asked her audience, her dad’s fans, and the entire country music community to pray for three specific things:

“1) pray that he will not experience any of the risks that come along with ECMO – stroke, blood clots, infection.
2) pray that the next 48 hours on ECMO gives his body time to rest and gain strength. THIS is his biggest hurdle for transplant qualification right now. He has to gain strength.
3) pray that the transplant team that meets on Tuesdays will find him a candidate for transplant and get him put on the list.”

Hannah reiterated that her dad is in need of a miracle and because of her faith in God, she knows that it can be done, writing:

“We need a miracle and we know God is able. Please, if you’re able, stop and pray for these things. Our family can’t thank you enough. We love you all.”

Hannah’s personal Facebook post has received over 500 comments, all from fans who are praying for her dad. WSM Radio shared Hannah’s statement, garnering over 1,000 comments from country musicians Mark Wills, Matthew West, Danny Myrick, Chris Janson, Jamie Floyd, Drew Baldridge, Meghan Linsey, Jessie G, Jenny Tolman, Jennifer Wayne, Tigirlily, Josh Hedley, Drew Kennedy, Taylor Kerr, Nat Myers, Bryce Leatherwood, Stephanie Quayle, and so many more.
