Sporting a sleeveless Dolly Parton shirt over the weekend at a concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico, country artist Riley Green stopped singing mid-song to call out two audience members who were fighting.

In a video from the Sept. 11 show, commotion can be seen near the stage as Riley was singing a solo rendition of his hit duet with Ella Langley, “You Look Like You Love Me.”

This altercation caught the attention of Riley, who abruptly stopped performing one of the song’s spoken word verses, saying, “Just hang on a second.”

Taking the microphone from its stand, he then walked to the edge of the stage and took the fighting audience members to task, responding to their actions with both humor and disbelief.

“I was hoping I wouldn’t have to whoop nobody’s a** today, but…” he began.

Specifically addressing the members of the audience who were fighting, Riley said, “Hey, can I talk to y’all for a second? If everybody’s OK … why don’t y’all just split up? Y’all go stand somewhere else.”

He then asked, “How can you fight during a love song? It’s way too early.”

As the two audience members appeared to not set their differences aside, the audience started to boo, and Riley asked for them to be removed.

“I was really feeling good, too, you know?” he said. “Man, I thought if I didn’t wear sleeves on my shirt, nobody would try to fight.”

Continuing, he then told the crowd:

“I’ll tell y’all what, y’all just hold it together for a little while, we’ll play for about 90 minutes, and then we can all beat the s*** out of each other at the end of the night, but until then.”

Then, singing the words “excuse me,” Riley resumed performing “You Look Like You Love Me.”
