It’s hard to believe that Luke Combs just released his debut single “Hurricane” in 2016, a mere three years ago.
Over the course of those three years, he has gone on to become one of the biggest names in country music.
On top of being nominated for (and winning) numerous awards, Combs has also been shattering records left and right thanks to the success of his singles. In February, Combs became the first artist since 2000 to have two solo singles in the Country Airplay chart’s Top 10 when his current single, “Beautiful Crazy,” entered the ranking while his previous single, “She Got the Best of Me,” was still in the Top 10 as well.
“Beautiful Crazy” eventually topped both the Country Airplay and Hot Country Songs charts, making it Combs’ fifth straight number one hit. Combs has only released five singles…so he’s never had a song not reach number one!
The song’s climb to the top helped Combs break yet another record. He became the first-ever country artist to send their first five singles to Country Airplay chart’s number one spot. Impressive!
The song helped him reach yet another milestone when it topped four separate charts while his album, This One’s for You, also returned to the top spot on the Country Albums chart. In doing so, Combs became the second artist in country music history (Kane Brown was the first) to sit at the top of five different country charts.
It’s clear that “Beautiful Crazy” has been a monster hit for Combs, and he owes that all to the fans. The song went viral long before it was ever released, and quickly became a fan-favorite part of his concert sets.
In fact, “Beautiful Crazy” wasn’t even featured on the original release of This One’s for You, and was only included as a bonus track on the re-issued version of the album. That means that all of the fever around the song sparked purely due to word of mouth.
A video of Combs singing “Beautiful Crazy” prior to its release is one of the most successful clips on his YouTube channel…even more so than the music videos for some of his other singles.
Now that “Beautiful Crazy” is a single itself, Combs felt it was about time to release a video for it as well. And he decided to enlist the help of the people who made the song’s success possible…his fans.
The new video accompanies Combs’ acoustic version of the song, and features heartfelt photos of his fans. He asked everyone to send in pictures holding up signs with their favorite lyrics from the song, and they sure delivered!
It’s amazing to see all of the people who contributed to Combs’ video. The young, the old, guys, and gals…it just goes to show how much of an impact this song has.
In total, Combs ended up featuring photos sent in by dozens of his most diehard fans. They sure are lucky!
