Maddie Font and her husband Jonah’s lives are about to change in a big way. The couple recently announced they’re expecting their second child together.

The singer announced the exciting news on Wednesday, September 16. They already share a son, 3-year-old Forrest, who’s now about to take on the role of big brother.

Maddie and Jonah also revealed their baby’s gender. They’re welcoming a baby girl to the family.

“I’m going to be popping out a baby and popping out my first solo record. I guess I’m just trying to do all the things,” Maddie told PEOPLE.

Maddie is referring to the recent shift in her career after the country duo she was part of, Maddie & Tae, went their separate ways after more than 15 years together.

She and Taylor “Tae” Dye Kerr shared a statement in December 2025, letting fans know they’d be pursuing their own paths.

Fans were shocked when they decided to part ways, but the two singers made it clear that there’s no bad blood between them. They’re just in different places in life right now, and Tae wanted to spend more time focusing on her family.

“We might make another record one day,” Maddie said at the time. “We might go do some tour dates one day… just in this season, it doesn’t feel aligned for us to do it together.”

Maddie and Tae are still best friends. Tae was actually one of the first people to know Maddie was pregnant again.

“She was the second to know, because she happened to come over with her kids for a play date the day I found out,” Maddie told PEOPLE.

”I just gave her this look, and she looked at me, and she’s like, ‘You’re pregnant.’ I was like, ‘Huh? I didn’t even say anything,’ and she was like, ‘I just know.’ It’s that soul sister connection, I guess.”

Although life is going great for Maddie Font right now, she went through a very tough few months earlier this year.

She revealed that she suffered a miscarriage in March.

“It just really made me trust God’s timing and His ways and what He had in store for us,” she said.

It was an extremely difficult period, but she knew that she had to stay strong and keep going for herself and her family.

“It took me a while to snap out of that sadness, because you’re just so excited and you’re dreaming up all the things… I allowed myself to grieve and feel all the things, but then I was like, ‘I have to keep moving forward.’.. I can’t get stuck in this.”

Fast forward two months later, and Maddie and Jonah found out they were having their first girl.

“We did like a little cake and cut into it, and it was a girl, and I swear my husband’s life flashed before his eyes. He was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’m going to have a daughter,’ which is so exciting, but just, like, different.”

It can be pretty daunting to balance motherhood with a busy career. But Maddie isn’t going to let one get in the way of the other. She hopes she can show other women that it’s possible to do both without having to sacrifice either one.

“I feel like in this business, especially with women, there’s this misconception that you can’t have a family and do this… I think there’s sacrifices on both ends, but I would just hope that newer artists or younger artists or just any female artist that has that dream of being a mom and doing this would just feel encouraged by my story in some way.”
