Taylor Boylan, a Canadian hockey player visiting Nashville, went missing for nearly 30 hours after visiting Jason Aldean’s Kitchen + Rooftop Bar.

Taylor Boylan, a 30-year-old from Vancouver, was in Music City with his hockey team when a night out turned into a nightmare.

Nashville journalist Nick Beres was the first to report that Boylan was missing. According to Beres, the athlete was last seen at Jason Aldean’s bar around 12:54 a.m. Saturday morning. At some point, he was reported missing, and Beres posted about his disappearance on social media. The post was shared more than 1 million times.

Taylor Boylan went missing on Saturday, April 26, after a night out at Jason Aldean's Nashville bar.

The social media post led police to Taylor Boylan.

Late Sunday (April 27), a woman contacted Beres to say that she had seen a disoriented man she thought was Boylan at a nearby McDonald’s. The journalist contacted the authorities who arrived at McDonald’s and confirmed that the man was, in fact, Taylor. He was reunited with his family who had arrived in town to help search for him.

Beres had an opportunity to speak to Boylan and hear his side of the story. According to Boylan, he woke up in a field with no recollection of what had happened.

“Nick, not exactly sure what happened, but there’s a large gap of time missing from the nighttime to early morning,” Boylan told Beres. “I woke up in a field missing my Apple Watch, wallet emptied out except my IDs, and no phone.

Went to hospital yesterday for tests but they couldn’t detect anything abnormal in my system which they said was the unfortunate but likely outcome with those tests.

Physically, I feel fine — just bumps and bruises scattered on my body.”

Taylor Boylan’s story had striking similarities to the Riley Strain story, but without the tragic ending.

While it’s impossible to know exactly what happened to Taylor Boylan during the 30 hours he was missing, the case felt eerily reminiscent of Riley Strain’s disappearance.

Strain, a 22-year-old student from the Univerity of Missouri, was visiting Music City with his fraternity when he went missing. He was seen being shown out of Luke Bryan’s bar on March 8, 2024. Security camera footage from nearby businesses captured Strain stumbling down the sidewalk, clearly disoriented.

A massive search ensued, with people driving to Nashville from all over the country to help find him. Two weeks after his disappearance, he was found deceased in the Cumberland River, approximately 8 miles from where he was last seen.

The investigation into Riley’s death revealed that he had consumed 12 to 15 drinks in the hours before he disappeared.

Strain’s disappearance and tragic death sparked a conversation about overserving and drink spiking.

The recent disappearance of Taylor Boylan has put both topics back at the forefront of conversation, especially with those who frequent Nashville bars.

Journalist Nick Beres posted on Tuesday that his recent post about Boylan’s disappearance led to him receiving numerous messages from people with similar stories.

“Most swear they were drugged at a downtown bar and then robbed,” Beres wrote. “Metro police had confirmed to me in one case that suspects led drugged victims back to their hotel rooms where they passed out and then had their money and valuables stolen. But no arrests were made.”

Beres recalled a conversation he had with a victim in the past who recalled being approached by two individuals after ordering “a bottle of Dom Perignon and big tomahawk steaks.”

“They woke up in their rooms the next morning robbed and remembering nothing,” Beres said.

Beres encouraged Nashville visitors, and everyone who enjoys a night out at a bar to “be on alert and never leave a drink unattended.”
