Fleetwood’s on Front Street, a restaurant owned by Fleetwood Mac frontman Mick Fleetwood, has been destroyed by the devastating fires in Maui, Hawaii.

Mick Fleetwood shared the news on social media, saying, “Fleetwoods on Front Street has been lost and while we are heartbroken our main priority is the safety of our dear staff and team members.”

He added that he has called Maui “home” for several decades, and called the fires a “devastating moment for MAUI.”

“….Many are suffering unimaginable loss. On behalf of myself and my family I share my heartfelt thoughts and prayers for the people of MAUI. We are committed to supporting the community and those affected by this disaster in the days month and years to come,” Fleetwood wrote.

At least 55 people have died in the wildfires that have wreaked havoc on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

The wildfires started Tuesday (August 8) and quickly spread through the town of Lahaina, destroying more than hundreds of buildings and forcing residence to evacuate. Hawaii declared a state of emergency Wednesday, and a cause of the fire hasn’t been determined.

As of Friday, the fire is 80% contained, but the death toll is expected to rise as the blaze cools and buildings are searched. Hawaii Governor Josh Green estimated that “upwards of 1,700 buildings” were destroyed and he echoed fears that the death toll would rise dramatically in coming days.

The current death toll makes the wildfire the second deadliest blaze in the United States in more than 100 years. It is second only to California’s Camp Fire that killed 85 people in 2018.

Many Lahaina residents were able to escape by car or boat, with some fleeing into the ocean. At least 17 people were rescued from the water by the Coast Guard and 40 others from the shore, the Coast Guard said in a statement, adding that search and rescue efforts are ongoing.
