Michelle Pfeiffer Shares Harsh Reality Of Filming “The Madison”: “No Bathroom… No Food”
on May 21, 2026

Michelle Pfeiffer is opening up about the severe conditions she and the crew of The Madison had to deal with while filming.
The Madison, one of the newest additions to Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone franchise, premiered back in March and quickly became one of the most successful series ever to air on Paramount+
In fact, the show has seen such major success that it has already been renewed for a third season, even though a premiere date for season two hasn’t been revealed yet.
The series stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn. The story follows her and her family as they leave New York City and relocate to Montana after a family tragedy.

The show’s success is definitely a great feeling for everyone who worked tirelessly to bring it to life, especially since the conditions on set weren’t exactly easy.
Michelle Pfeiffer recently opened up about the harsh reality of filming the series during an interview with The Los Angeles Times.

“There is no bathroom,” Pfeiffer revealed about The Madison set. “Even the outhouse is not real. So there’s no AC, there’s no plumbing, there isn’t anything. But it is breathtakingly glorious.”
Pfeiffer explained that even when filming paused, there really wasn’t anywhere for the cast to go relax because they didn’t have the trailers you’d normally see at most filming locations.
“It took a while [to adjust],” she said. “It was all a little bit rushed for everyone. So there weren’t certain things, sort of accommodations, set up. We didn’t really have trailers there because they were shooting 360 [degrees], so they couldn’t have a bunch of trailers around. So there really was no place for us to sit.”
The series was primarily filmed in Montana and Texas. The cast and crew had to push through unbearable heat during the summer months, only to later deal with cold temperatures once winter arrived.
“There was no food,” Pfeiffer added. “In the winter, it was cold [and] it was like, ‘Could we have a heater?’ And in the summer, it was like, ‘Could I get an umbrella because the sun’s really intense?’”

Michelle Pfeiffer & Kurt Russell Confirm They Will Return For Season 3
Even with all of the challenges that came with filming, Pfeiffer apparently felt very connected to the project, because she will be returning for the show’s upcoming third season.
Last month, The Hollywood Reporter confirmed that both Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell will be reprising their roles. Russell plays Preston Clyburn, Stacy’s late husband.
In a March interview with the outlet, Pfeiffer admitted that joining Sheridan’s new series was a “leap of faith” for her.
She revealed that she agreed to take on the lead role without ever being offered a script.
“[Taylor] wanted to know who Stacy was before he started writing,” she recalls. “I wanted to know who Stacy is before I committed. And so we went back and forth like that for a little while, and it became clear to me I wasn’t going to win this battle.”
