What’s Happening With The Yellowstone Spin-Off Show?

Everything that’s happened behind the scenes of Yellowstone and its spin-offs in the past year has been hard to keep up with. Now, there are rumors that Michelle Pfeiffer has been tapped to star in a future spin-off series.

To catch you up a bit, Yellowstone is ending after its fifth season concludes. But the show’s universe will continue through its prequel series 1923 and a yet-to-be-filmed spin-off.

In early 2023, it was confirmed that Matthew McConaughey would star in the new series.

Then in November 2023, we learned that the working title of the spin-off is 2024. The show is expected to follow some members of the current Yellowstone cast, along with new characters.

However, in January 2024, reports surfaced that McConaughey may step away from the spin-off. The actor is allegedly growing frustrated with the negotiations surrounding his salary.

With McConaughey’s involvement still uncertain, the folks behind the spin-off are now rumored to be looking at another person to headline the new spin-off show.

Is Michelle Pfeiffer Starring In The New Yellowstone Spin-Off?

According to a report from Life & Style, Michelle Pfeiffer may be joining the Yellowstone universe as the star of the modern-day spin-off series.

The outlet cites an unnamed source, who claimed:

“Michelle is primed for big, big things and the mood is the franchise will go a different route and embrace girl power and move with the times.”

This supposed source also touched on the alleged behind-the-scenes drama with McConaughey. They said, “Matthew’s stalling could really cost him, and he still hasn’t inked a deal.”

Since McConaughey hasn’t secured his role on the spin-off, this source claims “the coast is clear” for Pfeiffer to come in and take control. They continued:

“She’s excited and ready to go. Word is, she’s very close to a deal and she really wants to do this, unlike her indecisive male counterparts. Her casting would be a refreshing welcome!”
