Yellowstone fans waited a long time to hear this news.
The show took its midseason break in January 2023. It vowed to return in a few months, but that didn’t happen.
Behind-the-scenes conflicts were the reason for the initial delay. The show pushed its return to November, and also announced that Season 5 would be its last.
Additionally, series lead Kevin Costner seemingly implied he may not be back to finish the series. In court documents related to his recent divorce, he said he is no longer under contract.
Then, the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes started, meaning the cast and crew could not start filming. The WGA strike ended first, and the SAG-AFTRA strike just concluded on November 9.
This, of course, made it impossible for the show to produce new episodes by the projected November 2023 release frame.
Now, we have a new timetable of when to expect the show’s return. Unfortunately, we’ll have to wait even longer for the last episodes of Season Five to start airing.
On November 2, it was confirmed that Yellowstone is returning in November 2024. The woking title of a modern-day spin-off series was also revealed, with that title being 2024.
This spin-off series is rumored to feature some members of the main Yellowstone cast, as well as Matthew McConaughey.
With its return now slated for 2024, when will Yellowstone resume production? Variety answered that question in a report published on November 16, 2023.
According to the outlet, the show “will resume production on the final episodes of its fifth and final season in late spring 2024.”
So stayed tuned in the spring, because some members of the cast will surely share photos on social media once they return to set. In the meantime, tune in to the video below for a thorough recap of what has happened in Season Five so far.
